Phil Jackson is a homophobic bigot (who's still a hell of a coach, who's married to the bosses daughter and former playmate to boot!)

So after a nasty loss to the San Antonio Spurs, LA Lakers coach Phil Jackson said:

"We call this a 'Brokeback Mountain' game, because there's so much penetration and kickouts. It was one of those games."

God bless that old man, he's got 9 NBA championship rings, a former playboy playmate as a wife (NSFW), and has had the privilege of coaching 4 of the greatest basketball players of all time. You would think that the old zen hippy master would have a free pass to say and do whatever he wants, but noooooooo...the P.C. Nazi that is David Stern is so scared of a gay boycott of his league that he has lectured Jackson into appoligizing publicly for his post-game statement.

It's funny but the NBA could stomach any boycott by Gay groups, by claiming that the boycotts were racially motivated (and everyone knows that the media weighs racism as more important than homophobia, just look at the Don Imus debacle), and be able to take the high moral ground and get a ton of publicity. But alas, David Stern is a pussy who is scared of his own shadow.

This is actually a bit of a godsend for the Lakers, who would otherwise be fending off questions on why Kobe Bryant rejected a trade to the Detroit. Now if that were the headline instead of Jackson being a homophobe, it might cause more friction and damage an already fragile Laker team, but alas things work differently in SoCal while the the spin doctors are afoot. To bad, it would have been a fun train wreck to watch.
